Cech voted Czech Republics best player of 2013

PRAGUE (AP) â€" Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has been voted the Czech Republics player of the year for 2013.

The 31-year-old Czech international won Mondays poll of players, coaches, football federation officials and journalists for the sixth consecutive year and record seventh time overall.

Arsenal playmaker Tomas Rosicky finished second while Freiburg midfielder Vladimir Darida came third.

Last year, Cech helped Chelsea win the Europa League but failed to qualify with the national team for the World Cup in Brazil.

Pavel Vrba, who led Viktoria Plzen to the lucrative Champions League for the second time in three years in 2013 before taking over the national team, was chosen the best coach.

Vrbas squad, including Cech and Rosicky, will be in action for the first time in a home friendly against Norway on Wednesday.
