Maldivian Medical Association calls to strengthen healthcare system

Maldives Medical Assocaition has called on the government to strengthen the country’s healthcare system, in order to provide healthcare services in a better environment.

In a statement released today, the association called on the government to provide a meaningful compensation to the victim and family of the pregnant woman who received a transfusion of HIV positive blood from Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in February.

The organization also called on political parties to refrain from politicizing such tragedies as a means to attack public confidence in the country’s healthcare system.

The association urged the government to take the necessary steps to prevent such incidents and to improve the country’s healthcare system to ensure that medical care is provided in a better environment.
