A by-election is to be held in Thaa Atoll Omadhoo on June 30, 2012 to elect a council member to the vacated seat of the Island Council. The Elections Commission (EC) revealed today that forms are available for those who want to contest in the election starting tomorrow until May 27, 2012.
The seat was vacated in the Omadhoo Council when a member resigned citing the current political environment. The EC is also preparing for similar by-elections in several other islands.
