Juvenile Court yesterday allowed the opportunity for the three underage children accused in the murder of Abdul 'Bobby' Muheeth, 21 of G. Veyru, who was stabbed to death last February, to present their defence to the charges. As the media is not allowed in the Juvenile court during cases involving underage children as their identities are kept anonymous.
However, a court official revealed as one the suspects had not appointed a lawyer the court had given a 15 day period in which to do so.
The next hearing on the case would entail the detailed defence of all three suspects, official added.
The State has charged all three underage suspects with murder in the first degree.
Muhujath Ahmed Naasih of Abulagee Ge, Gaaf Dhaal Atoll Gahdhoo, Mohamed Maimoon of Zaithoonige, Lhaviyani Naifaru and Ali Mushahfau of Sultan Villa Seenu Atoll Maradhoo are also allegedly involved in the murder according to the police.
A Prosecutor Generalâ™s Office official stated that the case of these three men involved in Muheethâ™s murder had also been sent to court, but their trial is yet to begin.
