MVR61.7 million spent on ADK hospital in Aasandha

ADK Hospital revealed today the out of the MVR720 million designated for the provision of national health insurance scheme 'Aasandha', MVR61.7 million had been spent on the hospital. Speaking during a press conference Managing Director Ahmed Afaal said that the Aasandha Company statistics show that a total of 182,964 people had obtained medical services through Aasandha from January 1 to April 30. Out of that total, 56,429 people had sought its services from ADK, he detailed.

“A total of MVR299 million had been spent on all medical establishments that provided Aasandha services. Aasandha has spent MVR61.7 million within the last four months while the remaining MVR165 million were spent on the rest,” Afaal said.

In addition to ADK, Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and Addu IMDC provide Aasandha service. Central Medical Centre and Central Clinic also provided the service until recently.

ADK stated that the current statistics reveal that patients receiving treatment from other hospitals cost MVR 1,305 per person, while patients at ADK cost MVR 1,093 per head on average.

Afaal said that ADK had not raised the prices of the services offered even though rumors are spreading that it had increased prices. He said that the services are being offered at the same rates agreed with Aasandha Company.

“Three things are pointed out in the agreement. That is, not to increase the prices of our services as of the rates at the time of the agreement, to provide the services at the same rates as other health service providers after the initiation of Aasandha Scheme, We have reviewed our list and have reduced the rates by 33 percent from our services” Afaal said.

Afaal said that ADK will not change the rates within the one year term as of the agreement with Aasandha Company.

ADK also denied the rumors that 150,000 spectacles had been issued to patients. The hospital stated that according to the statistics, it had only made 5000 spectacles within the scheme as of the end of last month.

Afaal said that ADK hospital is improving the quality of its services offered to the people.
