Food and Drug Authority (FDA) has said that some issues regarding advertisement of food products are being observed and that advertising food products without FDA approval is prohibited. An official from the authority said that some parties are advertising without FDA approval.
“Advertisements for food products need to be approved from FDA. Different promotions of food products are also considered as advertisements†the official said.
FDA stated that a regulation has been made to monitor food advertisements. The regulation states that advertisements should not promote a health influence which the product cannot bring about and that FDA will ban such advertisements.
FDA stated that the most issues are observed in promoting energy drinks. It also stated that events are being held to promote energy drinks without permission from FDA.
“Even the advertisements given approval from FDA can only be used for six months, then it has to request renewal of the permit†official added.
