India content about poll decision by the government: President Office

The Presidents Office has revealed that the Indian Minister for External Affairs S M Krishna has expressed his approval of the Maldivian government's decision regarding the matter of the early Presidential Election issue during a meeting held with President Waheed at the Taj Hotel. A statement released by the President’s Office state that Krishna conveyed his approval of the current progression of matters in the Maldives and that he supports the government’s strategy in handling the situation. In this regard, he said that India has always viewed that the internal affairs of Maldives should be worked out from within the country itself and that India respects these boundaries. He also noted that the parliament’s approval of the Vice President and the new cabinet had brought about ease to the process of working together with Maldives.
Krishna said that the Indian government will continue to assist the Maldives in all possible areas and assured the President that the Indian government will help in restoring the Maldivian economy back to normal.
In the meeting President Waheed expressed his gratitude to the Indian government for its continued cooperation and assistance in the development of Maldives in all areas. 
President Waheed also briefed the Indian External Affairs Minister on the current political situation of the country and also thanked India for sending a technical expert to assist the National Enquiry Commission (NEC).
