Bangladeshi company selected to do study of atolls

MALE, May 26 (HNS) – The Ministry of Planning and National Development has selected a Bangladeshi company to do a study to assess development recourses in 13 atolls which are not included in the first phase of the regional development plan. Of the three companies which responded to the tender, under the "Technical Assistant for Infrastructure Development for Poverty Alleviation in Atolls", Consultants Ltd of Bangladesh was selected for the consultancy work of the project. An agreement between the Bangladesh firm and the government of Maldives will be signed in the near future, the ministry said. The project will be completed within nine months and is to be carried out with assistance from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), an official said. The project will be carried out based on the study and findings of the Bangladesh consultant and the government will submit it to aid organizations, the ministry said.
