Kooddoo Fisheries Maldives Limited has announced that the company's storehouses are filling up they are to begin storing fish at the storehouse owned by Horizon Fisheries Private Limited. Managing Director of Kooddoo Fisheries Mohamed Muthalib said that the company has been overwhelmed by the increased amount of catch by fishermen and that they are finding ways to weigh more fish.
âœOur vessels are full. And weâ™re expecting the Kooddoo factory to fill up as well. So weâ™re going to start storing fish at the Maandhoo factory owned by Horizon Fisheries. We are going to store 1100 tons of fish there. We will be paying the company a fee to do so,â he said.
He said that fishing has improved so much within the past two months or so that fishermen are bringing in around 160 to 200 tons of catch daily.
âœWe will buy fish from the fishermen, with a little profit for the company included in the final price or even if not, we will buy all the fish brought to us,â Muthalib said.
He revealed that fish will be stored at the Maandhoo factory until a boat arrives to ship the fish to foreign markets.
âœThe boat is scheduled to arrive by May 25-26, 2012 and weâ™re storing the fish at the Maandhoo factory till then. Fish stocks have also improved in the Pacific area thus getting hold of a boat for transportation had been difficult as well,â he said.
He said that the company will try to ease the process of weighing the catch as much as possible.
âœWe are working really hard to weigh every ton of catch brought on a daily basis, but even then we might face minor obstructions, however we will try to solve these problems as well,â he said.
