Nasheed is deceitful to his associates: Dr Didi

Deposed opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) President Dr Ibrahim Didi last night heavily criticized former President Mohamed Nasheed while referring to him as "deceitful" to his associates. Speaking during a program on private television station DhiTV last night Didi alleged that Nasheed had portrayed unpleasant actions never before seen by any former President of the Maldives.

“Nasheed has no sincerity. He is deceitful to the people who are working closely with him. He has violated all the laws and the promises he made to the people. As a result he had strayed off every map and run aground,” Didi claimed.

He further alleged that Nasheed’s every action was an attempt to seek fame and glory. To that end, his underwater cabinet meeting and the documentary he starred in about the Maldives in a bid to become an environmental “champion”, Didi explained.

Dr Didi said that the current actions of Nasheed were based in a way that would receive the ridicule of the people. He added that various actions displayed by Nasheed had not been seen from the former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom after his 30 year rule had ended.

Didi who had served as the Fisheries Minister in Nasheed’s administration said that the people had entrusted Nasheed with the presidency with so much expectations. But the premature end to the former government had been due to Nasheed’s own shortcomings.

On that note, Didi claimed that the people would not perceive Nasheed as a worthy political leader again and stressed that he did not believe that the former President would be able to reclaim the presidency.

He also detailed that even when Nasheed had occupied the office; he had made various political gaffes and never had the competence for sustainable political vision.

Dr Didi concluded by accusing the former President of making contradicting statement and claims to his actions.
