The final moments of the gruesome murder of Ahusan Basheer, 21, of Seenu Hithadhoo Varudheege who was brutally stabbed and left to die in March last year has been revealed in court today. The State has charged Ibrahim Shahum Adam of Galolhu Cosy and Hassan Shimaz Mohamed Suad of Machangoalhi Venus Thari for the murder while both the suspects are facing murder in the first degree.
Five people had testified anonymously via audio conferencing in court today, including two people who had been present on the scene of the murder and three people who had accompanied the victim to the hospital.
In the testimony the first witness said that the two suspects Shahum and Shimaz had arrived on a motor cycle to the spot where Basheer was at on the night of March 17, 2011.
The witness further said that Shahum who had been the passenger had charged towards Basheer and had stabbed him on his chest three times with a diving knife.
Shahum had fled the scene after the attack and the witness had also charged after him in pursuit. The witness stated that Shahum had briefly stopped as to confront his pursuer but had fled away on the motor cycle instead.
The second witness detailed of assisting Basheer into the vehicle which took him to the hospital after he was stabbed in the chest. At the time the victim had pleaded to be taken to the hospital and said ‘I am dyingâ€, witness said.
Basheer even at that time had said that he had been “attacked by Shahumâ€, witness added.
The three witnesses who had accompanied Basheer to the hospital had said that the victim had been in critical condition even as he was taken to the hospital, which had been evident from the way the nurses and doctors were rushing to attend to him.
The witnesses also said that Basheer was receiving oxygen while he was admitted in the emergency room. The victim had then indicated for them to come closer, and had removed the oxygen mask and with extreme difficulty had said “Shahum….Shahum…..German…..Germanâ€, the three said.
German is the alias of Shimaz who had been riding the motor cycle, witnesses added.
All three witnesses said that Basheer had named his attackers after removing the mask.
Shahum, declared "dangerous to society" by police, has also been charged for the murder of 17-year-old Mohamed Hussein of Maafannu Beauty Flower who had been stabbed near Maafannu “Maziya†football ground on July 30, 2010.
