Heirs want death penalty for Ahusan's murder

Four heirs of Ahusan Basheer of Varudhee, Seenu Atoll Hithadhoo, who was murdered in March last year, have pleaded for a death sentence for the two underage children being tried for Basheer's murder in the Juvenile Court today. The State had charged a young man and woman for Basheer’s murder. Reporters were not allowed into the courtroom during the hearing and the names of the two charged with the accusation was also not revealed as they are not of age. They are being charged with “first degree murder.”

An official from the Juvenile Court revealed that several hearings had been held on the case so far and testimonies have also been taken from witnesses presented by the State, and that currently testimonies are being taken from Ahusan’s heirs, and the four heirs summoned to court today asked for the death sentence to be enforced.

The official said that the remaining heirs will also be brought to the court and their testimonies taken as well. Ibrahim Shahum Adam of Galolhu Cosy and Hassan Shimaz Mohamed Suad of Machangoalhi Venus Thari have also been accused of murdering Ahusan Basheer.

Ahusan was stabbed and murdered while he was standing near the NC Park and witnesses claim that Shahum was responsible for the stabbing.
