Male inflation rate climbs over 15%

The inflation rate in Male has climbed to 15 percent last month. Statistics show that the inflation rate in Male had been at 14.60 percent during March, but the rate had hiked to 15.05 percent by the end of April.

With the exclusion of prices of fish the percentage is at 25 in comparison with last year.

The inflation rate of food items excluding the price of fish had an increase of 31 percent.

The food items with the highest price hike include dried chili, frozen chicken, pineapple, Milo and Coca Cola.

There has also been an inflation hike in air transportation compared with last year.

Statistics also revealed that the inflation rate in Male had hiked to 14.98 percent April when compared with the same month last year.

To that end, the inflation rate of fish had spiked to 58 percent, while tobacco saw a 105 percent increase and restaurants and cafes witnessed a 84 percent increase in inflation.
