Second ISP license given to Focus Info Com

MALE, May 24 (HNS) -- Focus Info Com Pvt Ltd has been officially given on Thursday license to operate as Maldives second Internet Service Provider. At a function held at the Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology the license was given by the minister Midhath Hilmy. Focus Info Com, is a company set up by Focus Computers when the government opened Internet services for competition under the new telecommunication policy. Sobah Rasheed, Director of Focus Computers, said they had decided a name for their service and finalized the charges for the services while they were given the license. "We have chosen a name for our service and finalized the charges for the services", said Sobah. He also said all the information regarding the services will be released next week. The Telecommunications Ministry said they hope that a better service of competitive nature will develop in accordance with the telecommunications policy when a second ISP offers the Internet service. Dhiraagu, the Maldives telecoms company, is presently the only ISP here.
