Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has revealed that information had been received that persons accused of corruption had been appointed as prominent officials of the government and the issue had been brought to the attention of the government. An official of ACC detailed that complaints had been received that the persons appointed to three prominent posts within the government had been suspected of corruption.
Official further revealed that not long after the current government assumed power, a list forwarded by a political party for the various government postings had contained such a name and the issue had become tense after the party had been denied the opportunity to appoint that person to the particular post.
However, ACC did not disclose the three persons whose complaints had been received.
Official added that “discussions had taken place with the Attorney General†in paying closer attention to such issues when identifying political appointees and expressed hope that the government would cooperate in the matter.
“However, we have yet to receive word of any action taken by the government in this regard,†official added.
