Ali Shiham fined Rf5,000 over contract scandal

MALE, Mar 4 (HNS) – Maldives football star and heartthrob Ali Shiham has been fined Rf5,000 over a scandal involving his signing of contracts with two clubs. After looking into the matter of his signing two contracts to play for two football clubs, Football Association of Maldives also decided that both contracts were void. In a press release on Saturday, the FAM formally stated that the agreement Shiham made with New Radiant was not within the guidelines concerning transfers. Hurriya's agreement was made on May 15, 2002, when Shiham's contract with Valencia had not even expired. FAM rules explicitly forbid a player from signing new contracts while playing for another club. Further steps will be taken against Ali Shiham should he repeat the offence, FAM warned.
