Police have confiscated MVR1.35 million worth of drugs in 100 days

Commissioner of Police Abdulla Riyaz has revealed that within the last 100 days of President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Maniks's presidency, police have confiscated narcotics worth MVR1,357,900. Riyaz tweeted last night that two people had been arrested last night from Alif Dhaal atoll Mahibadhoo on drug related charges as the recent arrest of people on drug related cases has increased.

While the government claims that the first 100 days of President Waheed is a success the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) describes these 100 days as “brutal” and conflict ridden.

They claim that there had been over 600 political detainments while a hundred or so have been charged by the government and one detainee held for over 70 days.
