ADK to take charge from Aasandha next week

Following the decision by the government to charge a co-payment for the national health insurance scheme 'Aasandha' from private hospitals and clinics, ADK Hospital today said that it would take a co-payment with effect from next week. ADK Managing Director Ahmed Afaal revealed that discussions were still ongoing with Aasandha Company in relation to collecting a co-payment. He assured that even when the charge comes into effect; it would not alter the prices of ADK.

“There will be no change to the prices we last fixed in January,” Afal said.

Afaal also detailed that the hospital had reduced prices during January as per the agreement with Aasandha Company to commence Aasandha.

Consultation fee for a specialist covered under Aasandha is MVR100 while ADK charges MVR200 to consult a specialist at the hospital. This means that under the new arrangement, the balance MVR100 must now be borne by the patient.  Meanwhile Aasandha covers MVR50 for general consultation while ADK charges MVR100 for the service.

Afaal said that Aasandha would cover 40-60 percent of the charges of services provided by ADK.

Though Aasandha Company has said that a charge would be taken for Aasandha from private clinics from yesterday, the process is yet to come to pass. The Company is also yet to publicize the price list for Aasandha.

Aasandha Company had said that an agreement has been reached with ADK and eight other clinics to provide the service by a taking a co-payment.
