Tuesday has been set to hold dialogue in establishing a stable environment to recommence the currently suspended Parliament sessions. Government Spokesperson Abbas Adil Riza said that the discussions held upon request of the Parliament Speaker Abdulla Shahid, will be held at the Presidentâ™s Office at 11.00 Tuesday morning.
Abbas said that the government does not wish the Parliament to be in recess and that the government will cooperate in the dialogue.
âœYet, there still are conditions. This is to abstain from talks until the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) stops its harassment through their protests.â Abbas said.
The talks are to be held among the Parliamentary group leaders of the political parties and the Vice-President Mohamed Waheed Deen will be representing the government at the sit-down.
The Parliament sessions were indefinitely suspended citing an unsafe and hazardous environment on July 31, after the MDP Parliamentarians repeatedly attempted to impede its sessions over the issue of Aasandha (Universal Health Care) Scheme.
