ADK hospital today said that though the opportunity has been opened for private clinics and hospitals to collect a co-payment, "the process is yet to be cleared." Managing Director of ADK Ahmed Afaal revealed that collecting a specific figure as co-payment has not yet been discussed with Aasandha Company thus far. Hence it is yet to be decided how much would be charged from patients, he added.
âœWe are in constant contact with them to solve this issue,â Afaal said.
He further stressed that as a charge is yet to be finalized with Aasandha Company it would be difficult to confirm whether patients would be charged or not from tomorrow.
Haveeru was unable to obtain a comment from Aasandha Company in relation to the matter today.
The decision had been made to open the National Health Insurance Scheme 'Aasandha' to private hospitals and clinics with a pre-agreed charge from patients.
In a press statement Sunday Aasandha Company detailed that following the decision by President Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik to open Aasandha services to private hospitals and clinics, relevant policies, frameworks and administrative procedures have been revised and redrafted.
According to the statement, Aasandha services would be available from private hospitals and clinics with effect from August 1.
State Health Minister and National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) Borad Chairman Thorig Ali Luthfee explained that Aasandha has been opened for the private medical establishments that had agreed to provide health care under predefined prices by NSPA. He added that the price would be amount that does not burden the patients.
Thorig stressed that though a small amount would be charged from private hospitals and clinics, health care would be available free under the Aasandha scheme from all government health care facilities.
