A full term baby was found buried in a bathroom (open shower area) in Shaviyani Atoll Feydhoo yesterday evening. Police revealed that the doctor who examined the baby girl had pronounced her dead even when she was exhumed at 6.30 yesterday evening.
Police official detailed that the mother of the extramarital child is a 15 year old.
“The 15 year old girl is currently receiving treatment,†official added.
Some media reports had indicated that the 15 year old girl had been a victim of sexual exploitation by her own step father and some local residents of the island.
Police added that the case of the buried baby had been reported by the island’s council.
