The Commission of National Inquiry (CNI) set up to probe the circumstances surrounding the transfer of power on February 7 has announced that anyone wishing to present information related to the investigation can do so till June 30. The announcement by the Commission detailed that anyone with information or evidence relevant to its mandate had the opportunity to present it to the CNI.
âœThis invitation is also extended to all the people who had presented similar information and evidence to the Commission earlier. Anyone wishing to share such information can contact the Commissionâ™s Secretariat till June 30, 2012,â announcement said.
Inquiry Commission also detailed that it would further explore areas that had not been addressed in the earlier findings of the probe. In addition, the Commission would also seek the testimonies of people directly affiliated with the findings and evidence of the investigation, announcement added.
âœThe Commission assures that the sources of evidence and identities of witnesses would be protected. Based on the evidence and findings, the Commission would strive to present a credible report by July 31,â the announcement read.
The newly reconstituted Commission comprises of the original three members Ismail Shafeeu, Dr Ibrahim Yasir, Dr Ali Fawaz Shareef and a retired Judge from Singapore G P Selvam and former President Mohamed Nasheedâ™s representative Ahmed â˜Gahaaâ™ Saeed.
The Chair of the CNI is Ismail Shafeeu while Selvam would act as the Co-Chair.
In addition, two advisors from the United Nations and the Commonwealth respectively would assist the Commissionâ™s investigation.
