Maldives' football whiz kid training in Barcelona FC

Maldivian whiz kid Mohamed Miraash 'Aash' Imthiyaz who stood out during the Inter school football tournament for two consecutive years is presently in Spain for training with an under 13 football pool. Iskandhar School Sports Head Yoosuf 'Yoottey' Azeem told Haveeru today that Aash had gone to Barcelona on July 25 under an opportunity sought by his parents. He added that the select few who pass the training would have the opportunity to play for the Barcelona FC youth team.

"His parents found this opportunity on their own. They had even accompanied Miraash. The children who pass the training would be given the chance to play for a youth team of Barcelona," Yoottey said.

The outstanding skills of Aash came to prominence only last year as he played a pivotal role in securing the inter school under 13 title for Iskandhar School. His dribbling, passing and shot making skills were head and shoulders above the rest of the kids his age.

Aash who has been involved in the training academy of renowned coach Ahmed 'Heenaa' Saleem since he was four years old had even undergone training in Manchester United academy in Singapore. Aash who participates in the training almost every year is amongst the top three players each year.

The former Maldives national team defender Yoottey in an interview with Haveeru had stressed that the 7th grader Aash had the potential to become a major footballing star for the Maldives and a lot of hope was pinned on the wonder-kid for the future.

"Aasha has the potential to be the next big thing in Maldivian football. He has the necessary discipline for it. He is an exceptional player in every aspect. He has the love and dedication for the game," Yoottey had said.
