Didi and Alhan quit MDP

Recently deposed President and Vice President of opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Dr Ibrahim Didi and Alhan Fahmy through a no-confidence vote of the party's National Congress have quit MDP. In addition to Alhan and Didi, Secretary General of MDP Hassan Shah had also announced the decision to leave the party during a joint press conference held at Nalahiyaa Hotel today.

All three former members of MDP had detailed that the decision to quit the party came due to the difficulties to remain in MDP due to the influence of some.

Alhan, Didi and Shah also stressed that all three would be seen in another party in the near future and claimed that they would join a party that does not have a “spiritual leader”.

However, Alhan and Didi both wearing red ties did not disclose the destination party.
Though, the members refused to reveal which party they would join, Jumhoory Party had claimed that discussions were ongoing with Alhan and Didi to convince them to join the party.
