President Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has sent the name of Foreign Secretary Mohamed Naseer to the Parliament for approval as the Maldivian High Commissioner to India. Naseer’s name was sent to the Parliaments national security committee for assessment.
Naseer was previously the permanent secretary at the Foreign Ministry. Naseer, who had acquired his master’s degree in diplomatic studies in 2001, joined the Foreign Ministry in 1984.
The decision to appoint a new High Commissioner came after Abdul Azeez Yoosuf had tendered his resignation.
