President Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has urged school teachers to avoid involving students in politics. Speaking to Vashafaru islanders during his tour of Haa Alif Atoll, President Waheed said that the school environment is designed to nurture and educate the young and that the school environment should teach children good discipline and set out as examples.
In his speech, President Waheed highlighted the important role of teachers in the upbringing of children and said that it would have a bad influence on the students if a good example cannot be set out by their teachers.
The President also called on all teachers to protect schools from the societal differences and disagreements, and make it a safe haven for children.
In his trip to Haa Alif Kelaa, President highlighted on the difficulties facing the island and also shared information about the projects planned by the government.
President Waheed said that the projects will be carried out as planned within the limitations of the available budget.
He highlighted the projects of Kelaa harbor expansion project and the water and sanitation project.
In his speech, President Waheed discussed on ways to further develop the tourism industry in Kelaa and added that his government would work to bring investors to Kelaa.
President concluded his visit to Haa Alif and returned back to Male last night.
