We believe that Arham was murdered in his sleep: friends

Friends who hung out with Mohamed Arham last night, have said that they believe that Arham who was found murdered at the park next to Kulliyyathul Dhiraasathul Islamiyya this morning was murdered while he was asleep on the bench inside the hut at the park. A witness, who saw the body, told Haveeru that Arham had suffered about six stab wounds.

Arham’s body was found on the ground of the hut located at the far corner of the park at around 6.15 this morning.

Police stated that his body was discovered by policemen on patrol in the area.

A family member of Arham told Haveeru that Arham returned to Male from a five day cadet training camp only yesterday.

He told that Arham, who lives with his family at Henveiru Naridhoo, went out at around 8.00 last night.

“He went out saying that he is going for tuition. His dad called him several times as he was late, but he did not answer. A policeman who is from our island called us this morning and told us what had happened,” he said.

Arham is the only boy from the family of three children.

His friends told Haveeru that the last things that he shared with them at the bench were the fond memories of the recent cadet trip.

“Even after we left at around 2:30 last night, he was there watching a movie (from a TV at the hut). We believe that he fell asleep afterwards. He told us that he was very tired after the trip,” Arham’s friends recounted to Haveeru.

They said that he often visits the area but they had never known of any strife with anyone.

“He is usually very quiet, he did not tell us of any problems last night” his friends added.

Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) revealed that Arham was pronounced dead even when he was brought to the hospital. Witnesses recounted that the 16 year old had stab wounds on his neck and at two areas of his chest.

Police have not said much about the case yet, however the police revealed that the investigations are already underway. The police collected forensic evidence from the park this morning.
