Adam's murderers will be duly punished: Home Minister

Home Minister Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has pledged that the Home Ministry would not back down in bringing all those responsible for the stabbing murder of Lance Corporal Adam Haleem last night in Kaafu Atoll Kaashidhoo to justice. In a press statement today, Home Minister said that the recent attacks on Police personnel had been during political activities. He assured the people that the investigation into the loss of life as a result of such actions would be comprehensive.

“I assure the beloved people of Maldives that the Home Ministry would not back down in carrying out a complete investigation into the incident and bring everyone found responsible to justice.

The statement further paid condolences to the family of Adam, while praising the unrelenting efforts of the police assisted by the military to curb crime.

Jameel in the statement called on the people to rise up against the targeted attacks on police officers.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) had also issued a statement condemning the attack and murder of Haleem. The military further called on the relevant authorities to ensure that the people responsible for the act be delivered the strictest punishment by law.

In addition, Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) and Police Integrity Commission had also issues respective statements condemning the act.
