Adhaalath party has called on to implement the death penalty as stated in the Islamic Shariah for the murderer of policeman, Lance Corporal Adam Haleem, who was stabbed to death while on duty. Adhaalath stated that the murders can only be stopped by implementing the punishments stipulated in Islamic Shariah. The Party stressed that if murderers of the innocent are put to death instead of being released after a few days in prison, the criminal will be forced to think about his actions.
“We call on the Parliament and other relevant authorities to overcome all obstacles in the implementation of the death penalty and not to disrespect the blood of the Maldivian youth and their value of life,†it stated.
Adhaalath party stated that the attacks on policemen recently, are due to the false allegations by high level Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) officials and some educated people labeling the police as “traitors†and laden with bribery. Statement also noted that high level MDP officials openly call for attacks on the police and continuously keep on inciting violence against them.
The statement also called on the government not to succumb to the people influencing the internal affairs of the nation for the interest of some and to keep on safeguarding and protecting the constitution.
