Broadcasting Commission advise RaajjeTV over explicit content

Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC) has advised RaajjeTV not to broadcast socially inappropriate and explicit content. In a letter sent to the television station by the MBC, it stated that the MBC is aware that the RaajjeTV broadcast of opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) “Direct Action” protests are against the broadcasting code of conduct or the code of practice and shows explicit content.

Hence the commission advices RaajjeTV to adhere to the broadcasting laws and regulations while telecasting live events and content and to retain control of their content during broadcasts.

“As you are aware that it is stated in the broadcaster’s code of conduct or code of practice, that broadcasters must refrain from broadcasting obscene language incongruent with social norms, inappropriate, explicit content and advertisements and to embrace a society accepted level within their content” Broadcasting Commission letter stated.
