City Council in dialogue with MIFCO, Kooddoo to reduce fish prices for Ramadan

Male City Council has revealed that Kooddoo Fisheries and Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO) were currently engaged in efforts to bring down the price fish in the capital Male for the upcoming month of Ramadan. City Council member Hassan Afeef claimed that last year the council together with MIFCO had provided fish for the people at affordable prices, but this time the council was also in dialogue with Kooddoo Fisheries to cater the increased demand in fish at reduced prices.
“We have received the green light. They have asked us to propose a price,” Afeef added.
He explained that this year Kooddoo has been added to the mix as the competition is expected to bring down prices more so than last year. In addition, the decision had been made to sell fish from three separate locations this year, he added.
“The place and other facilities including electricity will be provided by us,” Afeef claimed.
City Council claimed that discussions were directed towards ensuring that the general price of fish would not exceed MVR60.   Tweet Bookmark Print Badge the Comments!
